I use a whole list of different media mediums: websites (myspace, cbc radio 3, new music canada, online radio, independent stations, record labels, etc...), print (newspapers, magazines, zines, etc...), word of mouth, TV (much music's the wedge, new music, as well as rapcity, vibe, and sometimes much megahits, but it's rare that anything good is played...), and my own special music senses. Also, i sometimes just go to limewire and search what's new. it takes about 2 hours to update this site, but if you want to go looking around for yourself, i suggest the above. this site is more or less just a place to chronicle my findings, and show them to you if you're interested.

top 5 exploratory tunes:
1. jdiggz - puush it up (i cannot get enough of this song!!)
2. afterbeat - me and you
3. the johnstones - g.i.r.l.s
4. microbunny - green stars
5. human kind - mess of a boy

top 3 exploratory bands:

ELECTRO-FUNK
1. smoked meat fax machine
it's extremely hard to find anything on this band, so i'll just tell you what they're like. dark techno with a very sexy funk beat. almost like moby meets daft punk in a dark alleyway, and they duke it out old school with lead pipes and chains and everything. switchblades, too.
exploratory facts: on their myspace page it lists that diane keaton is their guitarist. wouldn't that be awesome?
exploratory lyrics: none to report
exploratory song: low mileage lease
reminds me of: see above

GARAGE DANCE ROCK
2. modern boys modern girls
this hugely powerful band has their debut CD coming out this month, and it's promised to be a smash hit. there's no way it can't be. this six-piece are set to play the upcoming NxNE (north by north east) festival, and you know they didn't have to bribe their way in. honest talent in everything from pseudofunk to garage rock, this band is solid gold. plus, they're all really cute.
exploratory facts: their album was mixed by ryan mills from most serene republic, and they have previously opened for stone temple pilots.
exploratory lyrics: "i'm begging, i'm beggin' to borrow what i need, what i need a long, a long way under. i've got to stay under, i've got to stay under. i'm right here, i love you..."
exploratory song: stay under
reminds me of: the bravery meets the clash

FRIGGIN' SWEET BANJO FOLK
3. old man luedecke
this old banjo-er sure knows how to play. he has been travelling canada playing his ol' banjo. his music is a mix between old folk, blues, and the essential love-rock. one can almost picture him on stage early in the day at the montery pop festival, too early for people to really be paying attention, but late enough that the drugs from last night have worn off. something like that.
exploratory facts: this east-coaster has lived all over canada, even spending time in the yukon playing old bars with old pianos accompanying him.
exploratory lyrics: "i quit my job, i quit my job, i quit my job. i'm free today."
exploratory song: ain't going my way
reminds me of: joel plaskett meets steve martin (not for his comedy, but he's an accomplished banjo player, himself).

CELEBRATE CELEBRATE CELEBRATE!

Hiya folks! today's theme is celebration, not for any reason, i'm just in a great mood. you'll notice my tenDANCEy towards pop music when i'm in a good mood.

top 5 celebratory songs:
1. snap - world power
2. les dales hawerchuk - le king du triple swing
3. shad - compromise
4. geronimo - just like water
5. black kids - hurricane jane

top 3 celebratory bands:

POP/DANCE
1.black kids
this awesome pop-dance group are a little bit awesome, a little bit old school. they're what bands like fall out boy would have, could have been, if only they had kept their soul. their new album is due out in july, and it sounds great so far
celebratory facts: the lead singer's last name is Youngblood. how cool is that? it's like he's a knight in an old fairy tale or something.
celebratory lyrics: " You are the girl that I've been dreaming of ever since I was a little girl."
celebratory song: hurricane jane
reminds me of: the cure meets morningwood

CHILL DANCE POP
2. no kids
this wicked vancouver band have the shins sound, but a whole different, heartier feel. it's like chunky chicken soup versus campbell's cream of chicken. both soups are technically alike in flavour, but the heartiness is all on chunky. does that make sense? this trio are known to be thought of as the next broken social scene, canadian music wise, and it looks like they're going to be able to either live up to that, or not only fill the shoes, but go up a couple sizes... does that one make sense? my analogies are all off today. also, they have sweet bass.
celebratory facts: they're touring spain right now. that's pretty bad-ass.
celebratory lyrics: "i'm a prisoner of desire, and it feels like there is no one in this whole wide world tonight... so give give gimme your love."
celebratory song: for hallowe'en
reminds me of: the shins

HARD-POP
3. pony da look
four artists team up to make a band... no, this isn't the beginning of a really bad joke that only half of you will get. it's a true love story between four art lovers. these four female musical masterminds have been making waves with their triumphant return. they had all taken the last five years off to do grown-up things, and now they're back with sweet tunes. quoted to being one of the best lyricists in a long time, songwriter amy bowles leads the band forward, not backward, upward, not downward, and always twirling, twirling towards freedom!
celebratory facts: they're signed to murderecords, which is Sloan's record company.
celebratory lyrics: "she's filling out her form with an albatross feather"
celebratory song: dirty nails
reminds me of: the b52's meets tegan and sara on acid

Another update!

look! I heard you even sang when you spoke... i heard you had a voice like an angel, strange though, you were blinded by the light shinnin' from your own halo..."
fresh song: compromise
reminds me of: k-os

PSEUDO-DANCE POP
2. green go
this guelph band are hot, fast, and sweaty. the produce awesome, dance tunes that are so infectious that you can't help but dance. their music is electro/pop/dance/etc, and they rock out with their respective cocks out. only the singer's a girl... they're finishing their first album right now, and it's supposed to be released sometime this year. hopefully soon.
fresh facts: despite being an electro-dance band, there are no computer add-ons within this band, all the instruments are played, not selected from a list.
fresh lyrics: "don't, don't hold your breath. dance till your death, forget the rest."
fresh song: you know you want it
reminds me of: this is from their myspace page: "daft punk and sonic youth shaking hands"

NEO-PSYCHEDELIC EXPERIMENTAL HARD ROCK
3. black mountain
this is a very neat band. they're from vancouver, have a major connection with the lower east side, also know as the "bad place" to most people who know what the connotation around hastings means. they are experimental, using a wide variety of genres, from lovely simple guitar work, to heavy, fun stuff. their guitar work is very classic heavy, or hard rock, and the vocals are just... well, it varies from song to song, but they're either lovely and powerful, or classic rock.
fresh facts: the trio all work for an organization that helps the lower east side people of vancouver, and they have also toured with coldplay.
fresh lyrics: " We've all seen tomorrow, and there's truth to what they say, demons may be hiding in our shadows..."
fresh song: tyrant
reminds me of: pink floyd meets sunset rubdown meets arcade fire

Ok, it's summer.

Once again, I am back! Hopefully to stay for a little while. I'm not even sure who reads this, or who even cares anymore, but i've got a slew of new music for y'all, and i'll be updating frequently. hopefully.

here's a quick update of neat bands:
jane vane and the dark matter
mgmt
magnetic fields
the bird and the bee

Top 5 currently interesting tunes:
1. raconteurs - salute your solutions
2. Lal - Brown Eyed Warrior
3. the bird and the bee - fucking boyfriend
4. savage - swing
5. the seeds - mr.farmer

top 3 currently interesting bands:

EXPERIMENTAL SPACE-JAZZ
1. Lal
This band just released their third album, "Deportation," and it's great. Think sexy female jazz vocals, a steady and rich musical heartbeat, and the secret ingredient: groove. the songs are clever and lonely, which keeps the title of the album from becoming redundant. the lead singer looks like rosario dawson, and sounds like good red wine.
interesting fact: their sophomore album won Exclaim!'s Best Soul Album in 2004.
interesting lyrics: "i swim the ocean shallow, too scared to go deep. afraid of what i may meet. afraid of my own heartbeat."
interesting song: Shallow Water
reminds me of: sade

POST-PUNK KIWI-STYLE BRIT-POP
2. cut off your hands
these dudes are an awesome four-piece band from new zealand who know how to rock. they're actually quite famous in new zealand, and are often played on the local music channels there. they have a lot of spunk, or energy, their songs are catchy and poppy.
intersting fact: i accidentally came across this band while looking up the portland band the shaky hands. the shaky hands had the same name as cut off your hands, and made them change it. americans, huh?
interesting lyric: "oh darling can we come over to my house? we can do things we have never done. we can just talk, it would be such fun."
interesting song: Oh Girl
reminds me of: the fratellis

POP/PUNK
3. the datsuns
despite their unfortunate genre choice, this band actually has talent. another new zealand four-piece band, they have been touring the world for the last couple of years, including being part of Ozzfest and other biguns of the like. with crunchy guitar solos, driven vocals, and thorough drumming, this band isn't half bad.
interesting fact: they started out playing battle of the bands, they're just like you! their new song, high school hoodlums, reached #1 at a local new zealand radio station within ten days of it's release.
interesting lyric: "hey! one, two, three, four!"
interesting song: high school hoodlums
reminds me of: the ramones meets weezer meets devo
new radio show!

so today is the first day of my new radio show: "Over the Edge Presents!"
I co-host it with my editor-in-chief cody willett. i'm a little nervous because it's a talk show, and it's for a half hour. well, not nervous. i just hope we don't run out of things to talk about. it's at 12:30 on wednesday afternoons, and everyone should listen! it's basically about what's going on in prince george in the arts scene, as well as a little on the local news and stuff.

other than that, muffin sunday is coming up! this sunday will be our third muffin sunday so far, and it's looking like the biggest one. i might have to make a pie.

i stubbed my baby toe really hard this morning. and i have bronchitis.

as for music, all i'm stuck on right now is the band Gogol Bordello and the new snoop dogg song "sensual seduction." such a funny song. gogol bordello is awesome. are awesome? anyway, they're redifining music, and i'm not just saying that. they've created their own genre: gypsy punk. imagine russian accordian music to sweet lyrics and a fast beat. yeah, they're pretty much the shit.
also, if you get the chance, check out the following bands:
starvin hungry
the pipettes
tokyo police club
shotgun jimmie
the mary onettes
and pretty much everything else. these are just the ones i play on my other radio show a lot.

peace out
t

ps - thanks sonja!
<img width='1' height='1' my sleep! it's all good, i wouldn't expect less from the sleeping drunk. waking up at 3 pm, driving aimlessly nowhere, talking about nothing, and having a great time. camping and wine, pizza and sunsets. a strange blinking in the distance, and waking up craving denny's. god it's awful. gosh, it's wonderful.

trying to smack the hell outta golf balls, and hitting only air type='text'>Hmm...

I still don't know if I should stay, or should I go? There are so many upsides to each option. Either I stay here in Vancouver, keep my glorious job, make buttloads of money, and put off getting my degree, or I move back to PG, be dirtasspoor, hang out with good people, and get my degree over and done with? Immediate gratification happens in both situations equally. This is a very hard decision. I don't want to give up this job, but I want to get my degree so I can frame it, and say that I got it.

Is it wrong that that's all I want my degree for?

Van or PG? type='text'>well whaddaya know...

as i was walking along last night with my aunt, i glanced in a tree. in the tree there was a Ziploc bag mostly covered in dead leaves and twigs. at first i thought it was drugs, since we were in an especially bad neighbourhood, but me being me, i looked anyway. after uncovering it, i saw that it was a present, wrapped in thick, rich navy blue paper, with raffia ribbon tied around it in a pretty bow. i grabbed it and turned to my aunt and asked if it was for me, not because i thought she put it there, but because i was just asking out loud. she said it was, so i opened it. it turns out that it was a movie that i have adored and wanted for a very long time. it was still wrapped in its original plastic store wrapping, with no price tag, and no name or note anywhere on the present, or the bag, or the wrapping paper.

i grinned from ear to ear. seeing as it is almost my birthday, or at least it's coming up, and there was just a random present from the universe sitting there waiting for me.

when we walked back in the opposite direction i left a note in the Ziploc bag that thanked whomever gave it to me.
<img width='1' height='1' thing, i know it's near impossible, but i'm realizing more and more that i have flaws, and just what those flaws are. all you type='text'>true story:

last night i met up with an old friend for drinks. we had a few pints at a local pub/eatery, then decided to catch the last train to his place to hang out and drink wine. at the station i saw a man who intrigued me*, so i sparked a conversation. his name was Augustus, and i convinced him to come to new west with us and drink. on the train we spoke of everything almost, and when we got to the right place we decided to head up the hill to a local cemetery and smoke. we found some friendly graves in the dark (it was around 2 am) and just hung around talking and playing night Frisbee for a while, before deciding that we should saunter on over to my friend's place. on the way there someone in a very fast car drove screeching past us and smashed into an electricity pole not 50 feet ahead of our trio. blue sparks flew and all the lights in the area, including the lampposts, were immediately darkened. we ran ahead to find that the car had vanished. we stumbled back to my friend's place anyway, and watched stand-up comedy on his lappy, before deciding to go for another walk back to the graveyard. where we lay around up on top of a hill on some unassuming graves. i fell asleep and was woken up 20 minutes later to see the horizon turn pink.

the next thing i knew i was waking up in my friend's place on a futon. Augustus lay sleeping on the other futon matress on the floor, and Barry was beside me, hogging the blanket and singular pillow. we all woke up before long to sunlight and my friend made us all tea. the morning took myself, my old friend, and this new fellow to Denny's. before long we were parting ways at the train**.

all in all, it was an excellent night.

*editor's note: Augustus is a 6'2" rail-thin male, aged 20 years old. he was wearing a dark navy trench coat/over coat made of wool on a 30+ degree day. he also wore black jack boots made out of ostrich skin, and had very long fingernails and wore many rings on his thin white fingers. his hair was styled in the way that it was shaved on the sides, and slick'd back on top. all in all this man exuded intimidation with his grand, terrifying stature. he also has one of the most sinister-looking smiles i have ever seen.
but he turned out to be a very interesting, sweet, and trustworthy gentleman. a professional extra, comes from a troubled home, and speaks in an accent that he never earned.

**i also saw my awesome cousin melissa at ihop. she's awesome.
wanderlust

i find that my need to flee, my wanderlust, is much stronger in the summer. i've been looking at getting a Green Card, prices of travel to anywhere, and trying to get back in touch with all the people i've ever known, just to have a place to crash if i happen to be wherever they are.

i just get the urge to get out. to just go and not come back until i'm ready.

i can usually stick to one place for 4 months. after that four month period i need a change, so i move. i don't know if it's because i stop being happy with my situation, or if i can only convince myself to stay put for 4 months at a time. i suppose it's really only 3 months, because after those 3 months i hand in my notice.

i have only been here for a month, but the itchy feeling is here already... i almost cut all my hair off today. i was holding something in the long run, like long hair, or satisfying my incredible, bone-shattering urges to change immediately, and just cut all my hair off.

how can i control myself? is that what cutting my hair is all about? just finding a small smidgen of my life that i can control (the length of my hair)? dying my hair isn't good enough.

why am i talking about hair? let's just say it's a metaphor.

do i need help? do i want help? I've come to the decision that names are very much like clothes, and should be changed as soon as one outgrows, or outwears a certain name. See, usually i just alter my name, my real name is tabatha-ann, so sometimes, depending on where i live and who i want to be, i change it. it'll be ann, or tabatha, or tabi, or tabi-ann. anyway, it's like altering clothes. once you do it too many times it's just all a mess and doesn't work anymore. so you need to get yourself a new outfit. or new name.

why should we all be burdened with a name that our parents or original name-givers thought was appropriate, just because they liked the sound of it. I think one should choose their own name, just as they would hairstyle and career.

don't let something that your parents thought was nice-sounding tie you down and make you be someone you may not be. be yourself. name yourself.

Monday

I met a man today from LA and his name was Shaheen. I'LL UPDATE!!

Yup, so this morning I go and check my email only to receive a nice little message from a charming young lass that I should update. Seeing as I had totally forgotten about this little side project, I think I'll just give you a lil' rundown:

.We have a radio show at 1pm Wednesdays at www.cfur.ca. It's called Ramikan.
.I am, again, the Arts Editor for Over the Edge, and am awesome. Email or post things you want me to publish, and you're a star!
.I'm awesome.

Anyway, as far as music goes, I'm incredibly behind, seeing as I'm lazy, "stressed" (I'm getting sick of that word), and...well, lazy.

Songs that you might not have heard yet, but should:

1. Hey Ocean - Whatcha Looking For
2. Tom Vek - If You Want
3. the Telepathic Butterflies - A Final Word
4. Transmogrifiers - God of Wine
5. Sons of Butcher - Fuck the Shit [I love this song...too much]

Transmogrifiers are an amazing local band to Prince George, recently developed, and have been pumping out songs like mad lately. You can visit them at http://www.purevolume.com/thetransmogrifiers

There.

here, have some more

allright, by now you've all got to realize that i'm a terrible person, and constantly forget to post when i tell myself to. i'm trying! there's a lot to post, and it's all a little daunting from time to time.
kidding, i'm just lazy and busy.

top 5 currently wicked tunes:

1. The Joel Plaskett Emergency - Nowhere With You
2. Modest Mouse - Summer
3. Ocean Colour Scene - Riverboat Song
4. Tangiers - Ping Pong
5. the Subhumans - Can't Hear the Words

top 3 currently wicked bands:

MOOG ROCK/ALT ROCK
Duchess Says - this foursome from Quebec spring from the Church of Budgerigars (eyebrows a-raised? "The Church of Budgerigars was created to promote the Duchess (or spiritual budgie) and spread its values through sophisticated and elaborate information programs. The church proposes a vast range of products and services including psychic lines, numerology, geomancy, religious shop, the Budgie Laboratories and, principally, our rock band, Duchess Says."...ok...).
But the band's solid, and has that little thing that we've all been listening to lately. the female lead vocals, slightly new wave sound with a hard undertone mixed with strangeness.
wicked lyrics: (i'm sorry, try as i might, i can't distinctly hear the words [although, the music is still wicked], and there are no sites that have Duchess Says lyrics)
wicked song: Rabies
reminds me of: Sonic Youth vs. the Yeah Yeah Yeahs

PUNK REVIVAL
U.S. Bombs - this amazing fivesome are rather old news, but this is the first time i'm mentioning them, so it's all new to this site. they released their first studio album in 1996 (holy...10 years ago). They're good, trust me, and if you're into any form of punk or punk revival, then this is definitly a band for you.
wicked lyrics: "claim to fame is calling your name / Mr. Microphone / one bag for a business man on mommys loan..."
wicked song: Underdogs
reminds me of: the Clash meets Rancid

"PUNK ROCK"/POP-PUNK
The Fully Down - this group from Ottawa are a six-man wonder to those who are looking to bands to be the new Iron Maiden. they've got a very distinct sound, being that they sound like a lot of other bands with the same distinct sound. they're not very good, but i thought i'd post about them so you all realize what i go through for you! they're ok, i suppose.
wicked lyrics: "do they sleep in the sand for our crimes? was it worth the distance? will it make a difference tonight? we are running out of options."
wicked song: We Are All Accomplices
reminds me of: Sum41, Yellowcard...

ok, there's the good and the bad. i strongly suggest checking out Duchess Says, i see big things for them and their budgies.

ladies night!

allright, back from another sojourn in the wild musical jungle of goodness. i've been looking long and hard (really, i've been searching!), and i've found a few female-feature gems. all these bands featured have female lead singers, except for the top 5 currently rockin' tunes.

top 5 currently rockin' tunes:

1. Wolfmother - Appletree
2. the Adored ft. Pete Shelley - Sex is in Fashion
3. Jesus and Mary Chain - New Kind of Kick
4. Sunset Rubdown - They Took a Vote and Said No
5. the Meligrove Band - Everyone's a Winner

top 3 currently rockin' bands:

POP ROCK/WANNABE 80S HAIRMETAL
1. Damone - this band form Boston based on 80s rock, good music, and an awesomely sexy lead singer, Noelle, have just released their second full-lenth album titled Out Here All Night on May 23/06. they've got great guitar work, or should i say, pleasing guitar work, and Noelle has a great voice for the music. one of the most interesting things about the band is that the bassist's brain hemmoraged during a trip to the gym to get inspiration, and woke up from his 2-day coma to a priest reading his last rites.
rockin' lyrics: "People take what they need, then they tell you "Get lost" / Kindly leading you on, while they're ripping you off."
rockin' song: Out Here All Night
reminds me of: Cheap Trick meets the Donnas

BRITISH POP-ROCK
2. Santa Dog - this Bristol-based British bombshell of a brilliant band have been bouncing around in their bopping baby bees...ok, nevermind. They're great. they've got a great drum-sound, mixed with the addicting English-female vocals, decent lyrics, and a clear sound. they released their third ep in late march, and i *think* have plans for some more soon.
rockin' lyrics: "Sad suburbia / chaos when you enter." "Someone new is living in my head / sleeping around and breaking my best behaviour."
rockin' song: Belle de Jour
reminds me of: Broadcast

EXPERIMENTAL ROCK
3. Whoosh - i've just gotta say, this is a great band name. the music is experimental, melodic, and good. this one i'm going to put as my Pick of the Week. possibly the best band i've found all week. with their first album released in 2000 (wow, 6 years ago...), they've been recently coming up with some new stuff. it's good.
rockin' lyrics: "My heart is lost / my faith in you is fading / my fingers crossed / i hope it's worth the waiting..."
rockin' song: I Don't Know
reminds me of: Garbage

a-biddy a-biddy a-biddy that's all, folks!

All right, so i've decided to put down some classically great movies of all time. these movies are the ones that made me think. please feel free to add to the list, because it's 2:17 am and i've been up since 8:55am (thanks to my roommate's mom calling), and i'm bound to forget a lot of them.

great movies! Apple Tree - Wolfmother
2. Perfume - Jesus and Mary Chain
3. Out of Control - She Wants Revenge
4. Heaven When You're Home - the Wailin' Jennys
5. Cinnamon Hearts - Matthew Barber

top 3 currently jammin' bands
ROOTS:
the Wailin' Jennys - this female trio from Winnipeg and Quebec are known for their roots music and impressive harmonies. from soprano to mezzo to alto, these three ladies are a Canadian gem together. i suggest picking up their original album 40 Days. the group as individuals have won awards from Junos to Canadian Music Awards.
key songs: Heaven When You're Home
notable lyrics: "I've been hanging onto nothingwhen nothing could be worse than hanging on."
reminds me of: Joni Mitchell

MELODIC NEW WAVE/ALT EMO:
Rock Kills Kid - you may have heard of these new kids on the block, or this may be a wake-up call for you Johnny-come-latelys, but this four-man band from L.A are the hottest thing right now. post-emo kids with a wicked melody and harmonized guitars know how to rock out and retain the poetic justice that is responsibility to all song writers.
key songs: Paralyzed and Beside
notable lyrics:"What did I do to deserve you putting up with me?"
reminds me of: Joy Division meets Evanescence and Jimmy Eat World

PLAYFUL INDIE
Sunset Rubdown - this originally solo project gone wild is just about the best band i've heard all month. they're fun, light, and good. the music isn't silly, as one would expect when i say playful, i'm not going to get you to listen to a Blink182 knockoff, folks, these guys have the playfulness of the opening guitar riff from Sweet Child of Mine by GnR. that sort of fun little goodness that gets in your head. this Canadian band composed of three guys and one girl, and they certainly know how to make good music.
key songs: They Took a Vote and Said No and We Got Broken Eyes
notable lyrics: "If I was a horse I’d have / Bricks in my mane./ If I was a horse I would throw up the reins."
reminds me of: Franz Ferdinand on crack (but the good kind).

exit.

fighting my way back to civilization

loyal subjects! I am forever sorry for taking this long to get back to you from the torid jungle of good and bad music. on my leave, i decided to change my usual list-like format to one where i inform you of the music, not just list them all off. i'm going to try to grab a couple of bands or artists from a variety of catagories just to please people the most. on with the show!

new music:

So.It.Goes - this four-piece pop/rock/classic punk/excellent band from Minnesota definitly have a place in my heart. they've got this song out called "No Guns" and it just makes me want to have a good time. they're releasing a cd in June called "Histronics" and i advise picking it up, or at least listening to it at a booth. "Popaganda" is for sure one of the best songs off of that record.

Subcity Dwellers - officially called Winnipeg's "Punk Ska Orchestra" this 8-9 member band are good. wait, scratch that, they're fan-fucking-tastic. their last CD out was in 2005, so this is a bit of an older one, but i know a lot of you out there have yet to hear of them, so i figured i'd put the word out. great songs are "Red Dress," and "Tension."

The Grass and Mud River - these are two seperate bands, but with a similar sound, and a great vibe. they're rockabilly, but they're good. influences include Neil Young, and the Beatles for both, and The Grass love Bob Dylan, where Mud River loves Kris Kristofferson. Just from the influences you can tell this is good music. possibly one of your new favorite bands.

young and sexy - alright, there is a chance you've heard of this Vancouver-based band. they've been around since 2002, and have been in my heart since late 3003, after their softmore record "Life Through One Speaker." early this year they released their latest, and possible greatest album to date. "Panic When You Find It" is a definite pick for best albums of 2006, and if you want to hear some good music you should get this album. the band itself ranges from ambient rock, to folk, to sophisticated pop.

there you have it, folks, another update, and a witnessing of evolution in music-blogs!

more tame

alright, so on my way back to Mainst Reem, i came across a few greater-known animals to bring you. these are quite tame since they've been closer to the busy hustle and bustle of sell-outs and risings starlets. although tame, they are still wild animals, and have been known to dig through the garbage of yesteryear, sampling some of the delicacies that have been left to rot.

you can pet the music, but please remember that when you take them home, be gentle. they're in need of some good owners.

the Silt
You Say Party! I got to sing into the mic! also, i've mastered the art of eye-fuckery, and am officially an eye-slut. if looks could impregnate, there would be a bunch of budding musicians all very unhappy about the current bun-in-oven situation.
the Living Things portion of the show was possibly the second-greatest. the greatest being the extremely social interaction with every member of every band, except for the bass player for the Adored. i spoke to him, but failed to introduce myself (i was needed over in the drummer-section, and yes, they pool together). also, i got a drumstick from the bass player for the living things, Eve, who was gorgeous, male, and talented. Bosh already said i could have it, and gave the nod. bosh is the drummer, they're brothers with Lillian, the singer. read about it somewhere, they're great up-and-comers.
THE BUZZCOCKS ARE COMING TO VANCOUVER!! if you know me and my musical history, you'll know that the Buzzcocks were my first favorite punk band that i knew of and researched. they were big in '78. well, as big as they got. but yes, now they're coming to my city! they've been touring the UK with the Adored, which Ryan, the lead singer, told me. I know i'm nae-dropping band members like crazy, but that's because they were so damn nice and open and friendly that i really want to talk about them.

ok, i'm done, and this post was much longer than i thought it would be.

your fix

ok, i know i'm a little late on this one, but there's a new foreign flick in town, and it's called "Goodbye, Lenin" and it's so remarkably symbolic and touching that it made me want to dance a happy German dance.

something in the Falco/Hasselhoff variety.

new music:
theSTART
Dimitri from Paris
Ocean Colour Scene
the Islands
Diamond Nights
Ariel's Pink Haunted Graffiti
the Adored
the Pleasure Club
the Cherry Valence
Tiger Saw
Young and Sexy
the Sea and Cake
Emergency
Catherine Wheel
Convoj ("RAMJAC" is best for songs)

all right, folks, that's all i've got for now. i'm going on vacation, and i hope to pick up new bands while i'm down where i go when i go for vacation!

new favorite

i know this is sort of old news, but Wolfmother is an amzing band. It doesn’t matter if you’re in a band that’s famous, if even if you’re just a budding guitarist, both females and males react to the creativity. When the soul, the subconscious feels that vibe of creativity, or is even aware of it through the conscious they respond with the most primal and animalistic urge there is, to mate with it, have sex, make love, fuck. Groupies everywhere, in most countries throw themselves at musicians, artists, and even writers. There is something about creativity, and fame also, that drives people to want to let them be taken by the spontaneity of creation. Maybe they want to create, also. Sex is the ultimate form of creation, and it’s only our recent creations that prevent creation. Birth control stops creation. Usually. The birth of creation is often overlooked; people think that it just comes. Everyone wants to be a muse to someone. For someone. We all want to push ourselves on the willing, we want to have sex with people in a position of creation. We could be responding to that with the need to create something ourselves, a new life, a new soul to create. People could be thinking that they want to become part of that fame, but the fallacy of fame is only left to those who aren’t in groupiedom for creation, but greed. Greed is the cause of war, the opposite of war is creation. Destruction of greed versus the creation of war. I want to destroy greed. Greed has nothing to do with creation in its simplest forms: art, music, literature, peace.

update

ok, i've decided to dedicate this site to my perpetual love of music, and post only new bands+songs that i love, or think other people will. so yes, sorry folks, but this is going to be a mainly music/arts/film/dance/music/literature site. call me bohemian. viva la vie bohem.

new bands!

The Booda Velvets
Fallwater Project
The Special Goodness
Craig's Brother
Wolf Colonel
Men, Women & Children
The Black Grapes
The Kim Band
Glovebox
From Fiction
Elefant
Editors

alright, these are most of my updates, and yes, i know that some of these are older than they need to be, but if you want to talk about great old bands with awesome songs, get Ian Dury and the Blockheads's "Rhythm Stick"

great music!

All right, i'm going to list off a whole bunch of awesome bands, and reccomended songs that you should find or pick up:

Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek
Dresden Dolls - Coin-Opperated Boy
Big Old Eyes - I am Not a Gentleman
Architecture in Helsinki - Frenchy, I'm Faking
Archive - Fuck U
Babyshambles - Fuck Forever
Man Man - Engwish Bwudd
Espers - Hearts and Daggers
Marlango - Automatic Imperfection
The Go!
