bigger! faster! stronger!
alright, i think i've got my format down now. it's going to look like this:
top 5 currently jammin' tunes:
1. Apple Tree - Wolfmother
2. Perfume - Jesus and Mary Chain
3. Out of Control - She Wants Revenge
4. Heaven When You're Home - the Wailin' Jennys
5. Cinnamon Hearts - Matthew Barber
top 3 currently jammin' bands
ROOTS:
the Wailin' Jennys - this female trio from Winnipeg and Quebec are known for their roots music and impressive harmonies. from soprano to mezzo to alto, these three ladies are a Canadian gem together. i suggest picking up their original album 40 Days. the group as individuals have won awards from Junos to Canadian Music Awards.
key songs: Heaven When You're Home
notable lyrics: "I've been hanging onto nothingwhen nothing could be worse than hanging on."
reminds me of: Joni Mitchell
MELODIC NEW WAVE/ALT EMO:
Rock Kills Kid - you may have heard of these new kids on the block, or this may be a wake-up call for you Johnny-come-latelys, but this four-man band from L.A are the hottest thing right now. post-emo kids with a wicked melody and harmonized guitars know how to rock out and retain the poetic justice that is responsibility to all song writers.
key songs: Paralyzed and Beside
notable lyrics:"What did I do to deserve you putting up with me?"
reminds me of: Joy Division meets Evanescence and Jimmy Eat World
PLAYFUL INDIE
Sunset Rubdown - this originally solo project gone wild is just about the best band i've heard all month. they're fun, light, and good. the music isn't silly, as one would expect when i say playful, i'm not going to get you to listen to a Blink182 knockoff, folks, these guys have the playfulness of the opening guitar riff from Sweet Child of Mine by GnR. that sort of fun little goodness that gets in your head. this Canadian band composed of three guys and one girl, and they certainly know how to make good music.
key songs: They Took a Vote and Said No and We Got Broken Eyes
notable lyrics: "If I was a horse I’d have / Bricks in my mane./ If I was a horse I would throw up the reins."
reminds me of: Franz Ferdinand on crack (but the good kind).
exit.

Have you anything to say about the new Red Hot Chili Peppers' new CD? I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but all the reviews I've read say it's almost as good as Californication... Which is good news, indeed. *gasps*
oh, and tell me about some good movies.. I was looking for one the other night and i actually thought, "what would tabatha get?".. yes, it was a slighly different variation from my normal "what would tabatha do"... but you have to understand the context.
