Dude, this blog is pretty much awesome. I haven't quite gone through all the bands here because my internet is super slow, but I've added a bunch to my CBC 3 playlist, and will listen more in depth when it gets better. Fur Bearing Animals kick all kinds of ass. I'm digging on the The Gertrudes too, you know me and my folky shit.
Some other bands you may or may not have heard of:
Land of Talk
Sweet female-lead rock/pop band (i can't sub-genrize as well as you). Pretty solid, especially 'all my friends' and 'summer special'. turned on to them after watching the Tracey Fragments, oddly enough.
Great Aunt Ida
(which I can't listen to right now due to the slow, but I vaguely remember as good, folk-ish)
The Paperbacks
Something else on my playlist I remember really liking but can't listen to right now. The song I had on there was 'Holocaust Art'
Memphis
Recommended by Barry, side project of the dude from Stars, pretty much sounds like Stars but with sappier lyrics? Probably requires more than my cursory listen to appreciate.
The National
Also recommended by Barry, you've probably heard of them, but awesome. Rock with a rough voice and sweet lyrics.
